CLINICAL TRIALS NETWORK PCIRN’s Clinical Trials Network is comprised of clinical trials experts, and has the capacity for rapid recruitment of persons of all ages. The outcomes of this year’s projects have allowed the network to well-prepare research sites for conducting vaccine trials to FDA standards. The major focus of the network for this past year was Plans and goals for the upcoming year include the co-funding of the study of LAIV in CF patients the development of a template protocol, and an with Dr. Caroline Quach and the CF Foundation of implementation plan to accelerate readiness for Canada, as well as the co-funding of Dr. Mark Loeb’s rapidly evaluating future pandemic vaccines. CIHR funded study of Community protection when children are immunized with live, attenuated infuenza vaccine. Another notable success was the infrastructure development grant from Pfzer, which was used to prepare research sites for sponsored trials in adults. There were some challenges faced; the network was not able to conduct a large trial due to limited funds and the inability to partner with an industry sponsor for a pre-licensure trial. 2014 ANNUAL REPORT 3
