About À propos

Dr. Juthaporn Cowan is co-lead of CIRN’s Special Immunization Clinic (SIC) Network. She is an Associate Scientist at The Ottawa Hospital Research Institute, Associate Professor at The University of Ottawa, and an Infectious Diseases physician at The Ottawa Hospital. Dr. Cowan’s dedication and contribution to immunization in immunocompromised patients is recognized locally and nationally. She currently serves as the medical lead for the Ontario Immunoglobulin Treatment Program (ONIT), a Ministry of Ontario approved initiative to improve the healthcare of patients with immunodeficiencies requiring immunoglobulin replacement therapy.

Dr. Cowan’s recent research has included examinations of the long-term effect of COVID-19 infection, evaluating a biomarker to guide safe discontinuation of passive immunity in patients with a secondary antibody deficiency, and the immunogenicity and safety of COVID-19 vaccines in people with immunodeficiencies. Through her role with ONIT, she supports the program’s main objectives to provide consistent, standardized diagnosis and management of immunodeficiencies requiring immunoglobulin treatment.
