WHAT IS SSHN?
The Social Sciences and Humanities Network Links social scientists and humanities researchers
(SSHN) focuses on vaccine acceptance and who have expertise and interest in the ethical,
vaccine hesitancy. legal, and social implications of vaccine programs.

Completed four research studies, including a study that examined media
coverage of vaccine preventable diseases and vaccination in order to
measure how well news coverage informs public understanding.
WHAT’S NEXT?
In 2018, the SSHN has fi ve ongoing studies that will explore several facets of vaccine hesitancy and
vaccine acceptance, such as testing effective communication strategies to reduce vaccine hesitancy in
parents, and describing vaccine hesitancy in healthcare workers who provide perinatal medical care.
