Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) exerts a significant disease burden in infants under one year of age, driving the recent development of new immunizing products like the monoclonal antibody nirsevimab. Clinical trials suggest that nirsevimab provides significant immunity against medically attended RSV-associated respiratory infections and hospitalizations for at least five months, though the full duration of protection remains unclear.

This work will:
1) identify predictors of (and disparities in) receiving adjuvated, high-dose, and standard-dose influenza vaccines among Ontario adults aged ≥65 years during four post-pandemic influenza seasons (2021-22 to 2024-25); and
2) compare the relative effectiveness of adjuvated, high-dose, and standard-dose influenza vaccines against a range of relevant outcomes (e.

In 2024-2025, as observed elsewhere in the world, many Canadian provinces faced a surge in pertussis cases. The province of Quebec experienced an outbreak of especially high magnitude and, although many factors could play a role (e. g.

Highly pathogenic avian influenza A(H5N1) viruses are circulating among wild birds and poultry in Canada. Notably, clade 2. 3. 4. 4b, genotype D1. 1, a circulating avian strain, caused severe respiratory illness in a teenager in BC that had genetic changes of adaptation to human respiratory tract (a2-6-linked sialic acid binding).

This is a mathematical modeling study that involves adapting an agent-based model of mpox to simulate an epidemic and then conducing a series of observational studies using the simulated data.

Canada is in the midst of one of the largest measles outbreaks of its recent history. With declining vaccination rates and international spread of measles continuing, outbreaks across Canada are likely to continue.

This study is a population-based, data linkage study of immunization coverage among immigrant and refugee children in Ontario. Our overall aim is to better understand disparities in immunization coverage and factors associated with uptake of routine childhood and adolescent vaccines among newcomers to Ontario.

Since the introduction of publicly-funded HPV vaccination to Canada in 2007, provincial/territorial vaccination programs have gone through numerous important changes impacting eligibility (from young adolescent females to a gender-neutral program with increased age- and risk-based eligibility), vaccine type (from quadrivalent to nonavalent), and vaccine dosing (from a three-dose to a two-dose schedule, with a potential one-dose schedule pending).

To study the effect of vaccination scheduling on immune responses, we will perform vaccination experiments in mice. We plan for two rounds of experiments where the second round will be designed using the mathematical model and the results from the first round. In both rounds, we will immunize pregnant and infant mice.

Since the 2019-2020 school year, the province of Quebec (Canada) has been administering one dose of nonavalent (9vHPV) vaccine to students of all genders in Grade 4 of elementary school through the school-based program. Little data on the immunogenicity (antibody production) and long-term efficacy of a single dose of the vaccine are available, particularly in boys.
